2. chapter

So the thursday evening finally came and i started my trip.
The flight from Oulu to Alicante were pretty normal, well i decided to drink a beer on flight, i guess thats a little bit unusual. The last time when that happend was about 9 years ago...

First two days i lived in a 9m long sailing boat at the marine Alicante.
So i was on the boat, sun was shining, wind was waving the boat just a little bit, it was very quiet and relaxing. In that moment i was thinking that how different my opinion about the city could be, if i would stay in a apartmenthouse, hotel etc...
The place was awesome, i could stay and relax there for days.!
Sure, it could be a little bit more warm, only 19 degrees.
Finnish guy like me was almost freezing in there. ;)
(When i started my trip,  in Finland it was about -20 degree...)

On saturday it was a time for the first hitch-hiking on this trip, from Alicante to Cehegin.
So i walked few kilometres from the Alicantes city centre to a gas-station.
There was some fenced, empty property next to it and some guy (who reeeally looked like a drug user) came from there and went to the gas-station. After he came back, he started to chatting with me.
He said that there's about 15 of them, staying in there with a tent's and they are travellers too.
He said that if i don't get any rides, i'm more than welcome to stay with them.
After 30min of trying, some other guy came from the property and gave me a few bananas, we chatted a while and he welcomed me also to join with them.
After another 30min, i thought that i could take a break and go visit the other travellers.
When i entered the property,  four dogs runned behind the tent's to say hi.
There was 6 hippies sitting down on a broken sofas and mattresses, they were really friendly and nice.
They came from a different countries and by accident they had got together while travelling in Spain.

Turned out that there was also 10 dogs with them, which they had picked from a different cities while travelling.
So these guys were travelling by walk with their dogs, about 100km "at once" and then they stayed few weeks or months in one place.

After chatting a while with them, i went to try hitchhike again, this time i waited 10 min and got the ride.
Driver was going to Murcia, but he gave me a ride to little further to a empty gas-station.
There i took couple pics and after that continued thumbing up.

About 30min later a car pulled over and picked me up.
The driver didn't speak english, so we had a little language barrier.
This kind of situations are still usually quite easy to handle with a smile, few words and waving alot with your hands.
At some point the driver droved over 180km/h with his luxury jeep, and soon we were in Cehegin.

The first hitchhike of this trip wasn't the easiest, but not the worst.
Cehegin is a nice looking smaller city and the old city looks really great because it's on the hill/mountain.

When i arrived to the city, i noticed that i was still kind of "waving".
It's interesting that when spending a two days in the boat, after that you'll still wave like 1, 5 days.
When i was outside, i didn't notice that,  but inside the buildings i was waving all the time.

I promised to myself that on this trip, i would write a little bit less, to save some time and not to use so many details than on my last blog. ;D but now i'm writing also in english, so it will take a plenty of time to write. So i really hope there's some readers..

So in Cehegin i stayed only one night and on the sunday evening i moved to Murcia.
I thubed up like a 30 min and got the ride again very near to my destination.

I left from Murcia already in the monday morning and got a ride from my host to a gas-station,  about 30km from Cartagena.
It was about 9 o'clock on the morning so i didn't have any rush.
I tried to thumb up once in a while and sometimes just sat down and enjoyed about the sun.

In a couple hours i got the ride to the Cartagena and i started to walk around.
It's a very interesting city with some hills/mountains and some old ruins etc... so there was lots of things to see and explore.

(How many cats can u find from the last pic?)

Cartagena was actually my first city on this trip, where i tried to get some free food.
Before i started my trip,  i asked from a few friends of mine to translate few sentences to a different languages.
So when i went to this veggieshop and the workers didn't speak any english,  i showed the text to them and they gave me some food.
But you can't live with only vegetables, so i went also to a bakery and got some cookies.. ;)
